| The Jets signed defenseman John Shmyr to a tryout contract in March 1973 and he provided some depth on the blue line as the Jets advanced to the AVCO Cup finals. He went on to play two more seasons in the WHA split between the Chicago Cougars and Vancouver Blazers. |
